Victoria Beckham skips London store opening to deliver passionate UN speech: “Babies should not be born with HIV“
Victoria Beckham missed the grand opening of her first UK store so that she could speak at the United Nations General Assembly in New York today.
The mother-of-four was spotted arriving at JFK airport yesterday after whizzing across the pond, where she appeared alongside Michel Sidibé, the Executive Director of UNAIDS.
Talking at the UN General Assembly press conference in the Big Apple today, the former Spice Girl said: “I’m a mother, I’m a woman, I want to reach out and help as many women and mothers as I can. Babies should not be born with HIV.” With her signature smoky eyes, Victoria wore a navy suit with black lapels and a white shirt to fulfil her role as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for their UNAIDS campaign.
Last night, the 40-year-old tweeted her 7.8 million followers: „On my way to #NYC to support @UNAIDS x vb #UNGA.” It’s thought that Victoria would be delivering her speech early this morning in the US so that she could make it back to London tonight. And while VB is currently in New York on business, hubby David has stepped in to welcome customers to his wife’s new store.
